Reasons to love the army

May 12th, 2008

Here’s the 10 reason why you should love the army

  1. Free food
  2. Free place to sleep
  3. They pay you to do point 1 and point 2
  4. There’s training to keep you fit and you don’t need to pay for it
  5. At least 7 hour of sleep (they force you to have it!)
  6. Can get a good tan
  7. Feel somewhat lighter on top (mean your hair)
  8. Because they protect you while you sleeping soundly every night

p.s: ok. I run out of ideas. Someone may try to add more

SMU graduates get jobs faster, paid higher

May 11th, 2008

After reading this, sometimes I wonder if I made the wrong choice to study in NTU. But then if not because of NTU, I won’t be able to to meet all those wonderful people that support me throughout the studies. Must give and take right. :P

SMU graduates get jobs faster, paid higher: “SINGAPORE: Singapore Management University (SMU) graduates are finding better paying jobs and getting employed sooner, despite the Class of 2007 being 84 percent bigger than the 2006 cohort.”

Since Singaporeans like to compare so much

May 11th, 2008

Since Singaporean has already perfect the art of comparing, so why not compare with our neighboring countries on this?

PM says M’sia to spend more on subsidies than development: “KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia says it will spend more money subsidising oil and gas this year than on developing the country, with Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi calling for a review of all major projects.”

Rednano ad is just too irritating

May 11th, 2008

In the SMRT train, it is quite often you wanna peer out of your windows to see which station you’re at but then when the advertisement is plastered at the whole wall, you just can’t see where you’re at.

People don’t need the whole wall to be plastered to know that it’s an ads. I hope they pull down the ads soon. It’s just too irritating.

This post is not targeting Rednano only but ads that plastered the whole wall. A better solution is to use materials that allow people to see whats going outside like what SBS bus always use.

After Mas Selamat fiasco…

May 11th, 2008

After the Mas Selamat fiasco, I become very forgiving when I read this article. In a country where the people down the line (you should know which line I meant) is paid hundreds of thousands and still allow Mas Selamat escape while Brazil a not-so-rich country is having problem renewing contracts is then quite understandable.

Or maybe it’s just the “Prison Break” effect?

Extracted from ST
RIO DE JANEIRO (Brazil) - TWENTY-NINE inmates broke out of a prison in south-eastern Brazil, in an escape that local media blamed on a security breakdown after a contract with guards expired.

Police said on Saturday that the prisoners escaped the previous night from the Novo Horizonte lockup near Vitoria, the capital of Espirito Santo state.

The Globo TV network, Brazil’s largest, reported on its website that inmates cut wire fences inside the yard and then broke through a wall. Four were recaptured on Saturday, Globo said.

A woman who answered the phone at the Espirito Santo state police department confirmed that 29 inmates broke out Friday, but she declined to provide further details or give her name.

The Gazeta newspaper of Vitoria reported that the government outsources prison security and failed to renew a contract that expired on Thursday.

At the time of the breakout, the prison’s 238 inmates were guarded by just four local police officers, Gazeta said. More officers were deployed at the prison after the escape. — AP

Rantings on ads by SMRT and SBS

May 11th, 2008

You must have often see the poster by SMRT and SBS to encourage people to ride with them to help create a greener environment - “go green with smrt“. Wah try to help and save the earth. My answer to them is that is they bloody need to increase the frequency of bus and train as it is getting absurdly long and packed.

It’s so crazy 9am in the morning to see the train packed like sardine without fail as well as having to wait 30-40mins for my dear bus 73 during working hours. I’ve shooted 3 complaint letter before but then did the situation improves? Yes for the very next week but a month after things still turn back to the same old thing.

Does this situation looks like a world-class transport system? Not to mention increasing the fare to so call improve the quality of service by what? Installing TV Mobile?

What the commuters need is not TV. What we need is for the frequency of bus and train to improve. We don’t want to be late for work. What’s the use of it when the commuters have to be worried of being late for work because just the service cannot handle the load.

I don’t quite like monopoly because this will lead to un-competitiveness and standard usually drop. And consumer is the one usually suffer on the other end while companies continue to make ever-higher profits.

Regarding to transport issue, is the premium bus service under SBS?

If it’s a yes, then we’re heading for disaster. We are too easily cheated and most importantly we are trained to suck thumb and accept the fact as it is.
