Recession Ahead?

December 31st, 2007

kudos to Leonghui for sharing this link. It pretty much summarize the various signs of the current economy sentiment. We do not know whether recession will happen in the near future or not, but at least we can prepare for it. Investors will have to keep a look our on the market itself. Don’t get yourself burn.

Interestingly, I also had a post on economy crisis ahead some time back. Let’s hope this is not true.

Mac: View Your Flickr Pics as Your Screensaver with FlickrFan

December 30th, 2007

Check out this cool apps to download pictures from any Flikr user. This is what I call a real time saver. :-)

Freeware app FlickrFan downloads images from any Flickr user, AP wire photos, or any other feed you give it, to a folder on your Mac that you can then set as the source folder for your screensaver. The app is still fairly young and a bit clumsy, but if you follow the setup instructions on the download site, it works really well (and is an excellent tool for keeping up with your friends’ latest pics). FlickrFan is freeware, Mac OS X only. Windows users looking for something similar should check out previously mentioned Slickr.

Chinese tradition - Offerings

December 30th, 2007

As we get more and more detached for traditional customs, most youngster had almost no knowledge of what is to be offered to the dead. Hence comes the need for a guide to educate the youngster of what to buy and do.

Very thanks to Yong Soon for providing quite a comprehensive guide.

p.s
this blog will not be in favor for any religion so no worries :P
zek: will be waiting for your post for the muslim tradition

Egypt to Copyright Pyramids

December 28th, 2007

Haha it’s a bit dumb to apply for such copyright. Who the hell on earth will do such a thing? Wonder if the Great Wall of China or even if the Merlion is copyrighted. I wouldn’t get such a IP. keke

Egypt is considering copyrighting its ancient pharaonic antiquities, from the pyramids to scarab beetles in an attempt to get a cut from trinkets sold around the world. It is unclear whether such a copyright will be recognized internationally, however the copyright would apply only on exact replicas of antiquities, including scale, meaning someone would have to build a full scale replica of the giant pyramids for it to violate the copyright.

Cat Returns After 7 Years

December 28th, 2007

Another story of the classic movie “Homeward Bound”? But do cats have such good memory? If I put my cat in Boon Lay or Tuas or Pulau Ubin, is the cat able to navigate back? It would be a very interesting experiment.

A cat that vanished in Georgia seven years ago returned to her owners when she needed to get in out of the rain. The cat named Sweetie disappeared shortly after being spayed in April 2000. On Dec. 15, Sweetie returned although the owners did not recognize her at first because they thought she was a wild cat.

Shift of mindset for training

December 28th, 2007

After hearing Chester on how much he look up to Stephen during training. I change my mindset and my focus is not to whack heavy weights but to maintain my form when carrying the weights. Every movement will be precise. It requires a lot of discipline to make sure I don’t jerk while carrying heavier weights.

The second changes I made is to consolidate the various body parts to train for different days rather than whacking all the various muscle group in a single day.

Disgusting old man

December 28th, 2007

While traveling on my way back home, I had this old man sitting beside me. At times, he will touch the foot of his legs with his hand and using the same hand, he will touch his face.

Arrrgh it’s so disgusting. When can Singaporean ever learn to be more hygienic? The whole journey I cannot rest at all. Just too afraid that he will touch me. Yuck.

Web Sites Offers Exam Answers

December 28th, 2007

Hey Albert, isn’t it kinda what we wanted. It would be so cool to have a website to consolidate all the related question and answer so that the students can enjoy the convenience when mugging during exam period.

Extracted from Truemors

A common, but worrisome trend has emerged with the growing domination of the internet. Web sites are offering answers to questions on qualifying examinations for professionals. One particular web site based in Pakistan reports an annual earning of $10 million for answers to technology tests. Today truemorist, tomorrow pharmacist?
