Resolution for 2009

December 31st, 2008

2008 is a life full of up and down. It’s a totally unbelievable experience to be in states for such a long period. I’ve got to know so many friends from states, around russia and the South American. Another high point would be finally finding the special one.

There’s too many low point like seeing my GPA plummet, the stress of chasing my money back and also slapped with letter of demand.

So she and I have made some new year resolution. This is in no particular order

  1. Improve her GPA
  2. Complete half marathon
  3. Complete full marathon
  4. Get into each other’s circle
  5. Finding a job I really like
  6. Experience the Treetop Walk
  7. Strengthen our relationship
  8. Night cycling
  9. Prawn fishing in Yishun
  10. Hike at Mount Faber
  11. Learn to be more understanding towards each other

Hopefully, by the end of 2009, we can look back and proudly tell ourselves that we have achieved all these.

No breakfast = earlier sex

December 31st, 2008

Now that you understand that it is not because of the general perception that of testerone pumping too high up in their blood. So for guys, try not to eat breakfast to satisfy your desire k? Oops this also applies to girls too :p

No breakfast, earlier sex: ”

TOKYO - THERE are many theories on the links between food and sex, but Japanese researchers have came up with a new finding - young people who skip breakfast tend to lose their virginity earlier.

In a study of 3,000 people, those who did not regularly eat breakfast when in their early teens said they lost their virginity at an average age of 17.5, versus an overall average of age 19 for all Japanese.”

7 XX + 1 XY + Pulau Ubin = Family Bonding

December 28th, 2008

It was an interesting hiking experience when my family plus my aunt and cousin went hiking in pulau ubin on boxing day.  Things are never boring with my aunt around.  We set off to Changi Village for brunch, where the overrated famous nasi lemak resides. But there were at least 20 people ( i am not exaggerating, though i know girls have this tendency to) in front of us. We did not wan to queue, so we went to eat some other stall.

And *rolls eye* why didn’t i foresee the complains after that from my aunt? ‘the rice is over cooked, not fragrant enough, the chilli not that tasty, the otah is so dry, the egg is tasteless’ HOLD ON~! she didnt say anything about the chicken wing, so that has to be a compliment. See guys, must infer, people from venus are not that difficult to understand right?

We rented some bicycles to cycle our way to chekjawa wetland, only to realize at the rental shop that my cousin would not cycle. smart…… guess who had to cycle her around.
‘WHEE~!’ went my cousin, ‘this is fun~!’
Of course it was fun, when you are not the person cycling uphill!

The wetland was great, and i found out how my favorite snack of all time, attap chee, looks like. Then my dad said,’Ting, open up your haversack, let’s bring this bunch of attap chee home.’ dots..

‘AHHHhh!’ my mum screamed, ‘there is something moving!’
‘Can it be eaten?’ My aunt asked.
I went to have a look, it was a mud skipper… dots…

‘Shit, i should have brought my chisel and knife.’ my dad exclaimed.
‘???’
‘Look at those oysters~!’
dots…

As, we headed back to the jetty to return mainland, there was this familiar smell of…. DURAINS~! yes. the stall owner proudly proclaims that it is a local product (because grown in ubin) and organic (because he picked it up from the forest, hence free from chemicals) hmm… interesting.

It was a fun day of family bonding, because we spent time physically together. But my sisters were at the phone all the time, so i am not sure of the mentally together portion.

‘pss… ting, there is a metro sale at expo, let’s go~!’ Mei said to me
‘Daddy’, as i turned to my dad,’ since we are having family bonding, could u drop us off at expo?’

Review: Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist

December 25th, 2008

This movie is kinda cute with lines like “It was a great night, my hetero heroine” or “If anyone is getting raped in that van, it’ll be a guy.” It’s not exactly as exciting with twist and turn every minute. But it’s the kinda movie you’ll find it rather sweet to watch it with your love ones.

It started with Norah making a move on Nick, who broke up with the sexy Tris. With Tris getting jealous over Norah is one of the few high point especially the sexy dance on the parking lot. Another highlight will be Caroline getting drunk and her fetish for chewing gum even after she dropped it in the puke. And eventually this gum also lead to the eventual acceptance of a relationship for both Nick and Norah.

If Singapore wants to encourage more procreation, they can start unbanning the gum :p

Wow this is so insightful!

Flyer stays shut

December 25th, 2008

Seems like my curse is quite accurate. I think for me personally, I really don’t like the idea of having to find them instead of them taking the initiative to contact the customer first in the morning. Who know it may be a special day for someone? Calling at 5pm when the flight time is 6pm is not really a nice gesture in return.

Flyer stays shut: ”

THE Singapore Flyer is likely to stay shut until at least the New Year as investigations get underway into what caused the six-hour breakdown on Tuesday which required rescuers to lower 11 stranded passengers to the ground by rope.

Yesterday, tourists and locals hoping for a sky-high view of Singapore from the world’s largest observation wheel were turned away as the Flyer stayed shut by order of the Singapore Police Force.”

The good times…

December 25th, 2008

I went hiking a couple of days ago and passed by this landmark.  Some hertiage house with this quote

‘If we do not remember our heroes, we will produce no heroes. If we do not record their sacrifices, their sacrifices would be in vain… the greatest strength we have as people is our common memories of the past and our common hopes for the future.’

It is only in good times, that we have chances to re-consolidate the past, and prepare for the future. And this does not only about event around us, it also applies to our emotions as well.

Positive emotions are important because it allows people to consolidate resources to be tapped on in times of need.  A very good example is contentment.  During this phase, one tends to take a step back and give thanks to the people around him, hence garnering social support.  This obviously becomes helpful when you are in a negative position in life right?

So contentment and giving thanks to the war heroes can only happen during good times.   This can enhance social support because we are grounded by a common history and maybe even future goals.

In this time of recession, it is all the more important to have social support, especially with the people around

Sg Flyer stop flying

December 24th, 2008

Alright, this isn’t any good news. But being stuck in the Sg Flyer is not a bad idea. Cos instead of staying in the cabin for 30 mins, you can stay there longer! More value for money right?

But this isn’t the first time it has stop operating. Fyi, this project is

worth about S$240 million (US$171 million) and is a private venture backed mainly by German investors

After pumping in so much money, we still got technical fault of such frequency. Wondering how the others that is suppose to be up there to celebrate with their love ones during that few hours when the flyer is suppose to operate will feel about it.

Actually this is also more exciting that the flyer itself. Don’t you think so. It’s been a long time since I have done this.

Well done, for people who don’t know, it is just part of the rehearsal for xmas eve lor. Who knows xmas eve will stop once and xmas will also stop again.

Touch wood touch wood.

Slapped with Letter Of Demand

December 22nd, 2008

This is related to the investment fiasco (hint: somewhere right of my blog) I’ve been through for almost a year and it’s still not been settled. It’s really not worth wasting the trouble for that sum of money.

What’s more bewildering is that I’m slapped with letter of demand aka LOD within a week I’m back and what’s written is absolutely ridiculous.

Bravo~ Good job done.

I don’t think it’s paranoid for me to think that they have been targeting for my return. Now, I have to defend myself becase I have no choice but to defend my reputation. Keep quiet is not an option even though I’m a peaceful person.

And the person is crying foul that I’m one of the few responsible for her situation !@#$

Different ways to marry a girl

December 22nd, 2008

Just had a laugh on how to use business way to marrying a girl. Well done Adlina.

Just for laugh.: ”

Read this off flowerpod and sent me into a fit of giggles.

Defining Marketing, PR and Advertising:

1. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: ‘ I am very rich. Marry me! ‘ - That’s Direct Marketing’

2. You’re at a party with a bunch of friends and see a gorgeous girl. One of your friends goes up to her and pointing at you says: ‘ He’s very rich. ‘Marry him.’ -That’s Advertising’

3. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and get her telephone number. The next day, you call and say: ‘ Hi, I’m very rich. ‘Marry me - That’s Telemarketing’

4. You’re at a party and see gorgeous girl. You get up and straighten your tie, you walk up to her and pour her a

drink, you open the door (of the car)for her, pick up her bag after she drops it, offer her ride and then say:’By the way, I’m rich. Will you ‘Marry Me?’ - That’s Public Relations’

5. You’re at a party and see gorgeous girl. She walks up to you and says:’You are very rich! ‘Can you marry ! Me?’ - That’s Brand Recognition’

6. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: ‘I am very rich. Marry me!’ She gives you a nice hard slap on your face. - ‘ That’s Customer Feedback ‘

7. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: ‘I am very rich. Marry me!’ And she introduces you to her husband. - ‘That’s demand and supply gap’

8. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and before you say anything, another person come and tell her: ‘I’m rich. Will you marry me?’ and she goes with him - ‘That’s competition eating into your market share’

9. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and before you say: ‘I’m rich, Marry me!’ your wife arrives. - ‘ That’s restriction for entering new markets ‘

Jiayou Jinglun

December 20th, 2008

Yes, I finally fulfilled my promise of buying Jinglun album to support him. Well well, it hasn’t been easy since I just came back from states. Everyday is so busy yet interesting.

I’ve yet to listen to the album but I believe it will be a good album. My last album is like 2 years ago by David Tao.

I just got to know that his peer had died. It’s never been easy to lose a friend just like this. It will take sometime to heal the wound but nevertheless life goes on. May he be the next JJ Lin. Or even hotter than him :p

Redefining success

December 20th, 2008

Bombarded by the media and people, many people have come to the conclusion that success actually means being rich!

But when you check at the dictionary, the definition did not say one must be super rich.

Success simply is defined as “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.” So what does it means? It actually means different people has different meaning for success to achieve their aim.

Until recently, I’ve come to realized that its not money that makes me feel happy or “successful”. Of cos, it’s not possible to live without money but it does not mean it is the most important thing in life.

My answer to it is “balance”. This is the difficult part, trying to keep everything in balance. Not being a workaholic and neglect relationship with friends, families and love ones. It’s already hard trying to maintain in balance in relationship.

It also means to me finding a passion in the things I work in. What is the best thing that do complement my passion and strength? Of cos these two may not come hand in hand. I do feel jealous because my friend is gifted in singing and thus it’s pretty easy for him to find his direction in life. For the majority of us, it’s a continual search for it.

But no matter what, one must continue the search for it. And life do change and people thinking do change every few years too. So it’s always good to do reflection regularly.

Magic

December 19th, 2008

Magic performances are hard to come by, or at least for me until i started to mix around with friends who learn magic as their hobbies.  And not long after, it became mine.

It is just as difficult to find a female magician, because most of the time, we are the ’sexy assistants’. Quite stereotypical profession or hobby i must say. Look at Magic Babe Ling, her as a magician being marketed as sexy. Sigh… but her illusions are good though.

Being an magician in training (meaning i still have lots of things to learn), it is very demoralizing when people, especially children, calls you a cheat, or liar. To think that the amount of effort i put in to practice and practice and then perform, becomes amounted to something negative.

On the other hand, I really cannot blame the children or people who say that, because we, Singaporeans, are brought up to be very practical people. That we are always trying to spot the mistakes then enjoying the performance, and then they feel like the triumph the magician when they spot the mistakes. Sigh….

What am i suppose to do?
