Is SMRT cheating us?
May 19th, 2008
2-3 years ago, the ferquency of train is at 4-5 minutes but today, it is a common scene to see frequency at 8-11 minutes. 10 minutes interarrival of service should only apply to bus service.

During a casual chitchat, my friend pointed that back then the government should solve the traffic condition rather than encouraging people to take public transport. Right now, conditions for both train and road is equally bad.

It is a situation where you can only suck thumb and carry on with your life. Maybe the only way is to wake up early so as to take a earlier bus and avoid the congestion.
Guess what time is the picture taken?
it’s 12mn!

Contradicting isn’t it. Encouraging usage of public transport while lowering the frequency of trains.
* sigh *
I think they will ask us to walk or cycle next.
I tried once travel from Bugis to Summerset.
Waited 8 Min at Bugis. Another 8 Min at cityhall to transfer.
16 mins should be enough for me to walk from Bugis to Summerset.
i think the SMRT should wake up! i was in the mrt train last night @ 12mn. and the train was packed!
I share the exact same sentiments, I don’t understand why we keep having to pay more for transport, even though the waiting time hasn’t been reduced. And the standard’s still not there.
Those LTA and SMRT guys are all useless.. just lip service only. It is so common to wait long and have a train packed to the brim even during off peak hours.
@krisando it’s not contradicting. it’s asking for the best of both world
@dk haha maybe you should really walk
@zeezen haha its a common sight. *pat on shoulder*
@nathan
suck thumb los
@paddy have you realized the time to close the door has lengthen significantly when the train ain’t filled? shouldn’t it be another way round?
I so agree with you. They should or rather must increase the frequency. The crowd is getting larger these days. I have to skip a bus and wait for another almost everyday since its too full. Haiz…
Hah.. do u realised eversince the taxi fares shot up, the MRT has always been crowded even at 10pm on a Monday. Try it. Board a train a Bugis (always crowded on weekends). You’ll find the scene just like a weekend/Friday night scene - maybe slightly less pack - but it’s still crowded!
